Batista returns to WWE, attacks Ric Flair

It’s not often, if ever, that a WWE birthday party doesn’t end with some shenanigans. In the case of Ric Flair’s 70th birthday celebration on tonight’s episode of RAW out of Atlanta, GA — there certainly would be candle blowing or cake cutting for good ole’ Naitch. Instead, we’d see a backstage beatdown by the hands of one of his former stablemates.

After some nice shots of a birthday cake and balloons, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon would part the “Superstar” sea on the entrance ramp to make their speeches and introduce a parade of legends who would be attending Flair’s b-day extravaganza.

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, and Sting all made their way to the ring to celebrate with the man they helped create some of the best matches in pro wrestling history with.

When it finally came time for Flair to make his way down to the ring, we’d find an angry Batista in the backstage area, dragging Flair out of his locker room while demanding the attention of Triple H. HHH would run to the backstage area to help Flair, with Batista having fled the scene of the crime.

So, what does this all mean? With the 50-year-old box office “Animal” having been very public about wanting to return to WWE for one final run and work a program with HHH at WrestleMania, this was already in the works as evidenced by the words exchanged back on Smackdown 1000 last October. A pec injury to HHH the following month in Saudi Arabia would put the match in jeopardy but all appears well now with Batista showing up to begin their WrestleMania angle tonight in Atlanta.
